Valdis Dombrovskis

«National airline airBaltic minority shareholder SIA Baltic Aviation Systems was trying to register fictive shares in a bid to get hold of the controlling share in the airline,« says Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister.

Prime Minister was evasive in commenting on the journalists’ question whether the state has lost its controlling share and the other shareholder now wants to register this officially.

Dombrovskis believes these shares were false, stressing that Transport Ministry and Finance Ministry are currently dealing with the matter.

According to TV3, AS Air Baltic Corporation has turned to the Land Register with an application to register capital payment of 534 725 lats, Nekā Personīga reports.

Both the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau and the General Prosecutor’s Office have been notified. The Transport Ministry is said to have asked in a secret letter to the Land Register not to agree to any redactions in terms of airBaltic shareholders.
