February 27th, Monday

-Meeting of the Ministry Cabinet committee, during which amendments to the rules of «purchase procedures and the order of their use in projects funded by the client».

-The opening of the annual Notary Day, during which the «Law of initial declaration from the viewpoint of the people» research.

-The discussion of creating a Baltic institute of innovative research and technology will take place in the European Union Home in Riga. The chancellor of the University of Latvia Marcis Auzins, chancellor of the Riga Technical University Leonid Ribicky and the director of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis Ivars Kalvins will participate in the discussion.

-Members of the Gardeners’ Union of Riga will carry out a protest in the building of the State plant protection service, because of the conflict between the service and the union about the possible illegal seed trade.

-An auction to sell the production of mineral water in Stelle will take place

-Director of the Department of Fishery of the Ministry of agriculture Normunds Riekstins will participate in a meeting, organized by the European commission in Brussels, dedicated to the fishery policy reform.

-The tender commission will announce the victor of the post of the head of the Procurement Monitoring Bureau competition.

Tuesday, February 28th

-Meeting of the dangerous cargo turnover Consultancy Council

-Meeting of the Saeima standing commissions:

The Defense commission, commission of internal affairs and corruption prevention review the amendments to the «Law of private information protection» and the «Law of preventing terrorism financing and legalizing funds obtained through illegal means»

The National economy commission to review amendments to the Law of Commerce, Law of Cooperative societies, Law of privatization certificates, Law of free offer of services

-The State agency of regional development to inform about the results of the activities of electronic procurement system and plans for the future.

-The meeting of the Ministry cabinet, during which amendments to the rules «of the order, according to which merchants ensure and offer services to the State to create oil (fuel) reserves in a determined volume» and the rules «of the excise tax declaration blank order and contents» will be discussed. Also the issue of Latvian delegation participating in the IMF and World Bank meeting in April 2012 in Washington will be reviewed.

SEB Bank and LETA information agency will host the «Challenge for the manager – the choice of outsource services» conference in Islande Hotel.

-CEO of DDB Worldwide Latvia Andris Rubins will host a lecture titled «Social creativity. Ideas, which are passed along and unite people.» in the Turiba University.

-Minister of finance Andris Vilks meets with the president of the Central and Eastern Europe branch of the British RSA Group enterprise, which is the mother company of the Balta insurance company, Andrew Berk, to discuss the situation on the finance markets of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the tendencies in the field of insurance.

Wednesday, February 29th

-Central Statistics bureau to report about the turnover of retail trade and changes in construction prices in January 2012.

-A «How much does communication cost?» discussion, as part of the series of «Meetings on Wednesday» seminars by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will take place.

-Minister of finance Andris Vilks meets with Eurocommissar of economy and monetary issues Olli Rehn to discuss technical issues linked to the international loan.

-Meeting of the Saeima standing commissions

The Budget finance commission to review amendments to the «Law of Taxes and Tariffs», «Law of Annual reports», «Law of market of financial instruments», «Law of income tax».

The National economy commission to prepare amendments to the «Law of public procurements» before the first hearing

The parliamentary commission of investigations will discuss how Latviajs Krajbanka’s insolvency can affect the finance system of Latvia.

-The President of Latvia Andris Berzins takes part in the «Development: it is faster together» seminar, dedicated to attracting investments for enterprises.

Thursday, March 1st

-Members of the parliamentary commission of investigations, who investigated the consequences of Latviajs Krajbanka’s insolvency for the financial system of Latvia, meet with the head of the Latvian commercial bank association Martins Bichevskis.

-American Chamber of Commerce and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga carry out a discussion dedicated to the issues of demography.
