Latvian top companies by value – Latvenergo and Latvijas valsts meži

Energy producer Latvenergo, forestry company Latvijas valsts meži and computer network equipment maker Mikrotīkls had topped the list of the Top 101 Latvian companies, compiled annually by Nasdaq Riga and Prudentia.

Latvenergo has been estimated to be the most valuable worth 1.57 billion euros. Latvijas valsts meži came second with the estimated value of 753.9 million euors, Mikrotīkls was placed third with 611.6 million euros.

The total value of all 101 most valuable Latvian companies is estimated to be 16.9 billion euros. This, according to the authors of the list, points to stagnation as the combined value has over the past three years remained in the limits of 17 to 18 billion euros.

«The structure and historic dynamic of the value of Latvian Top 101 most valuable companies allows to conclude that in the circumstances of the previous financial crisis, many entrepreneurs have managed to use the opportunities offered by the crisis and to make decisions based on development and to adjust themselves to changes in the market,» explained the board chairman of Prudentia, Kārlis Krastiņš.
