Latvian Saeima plans to ban the use of Soviet and Nazi Germany uniforms in public events

On Tuesday, 25 February, Saeima’s Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee supported in the third reading amendments that provide for banning the use of uniforms used by armed forces and law enforcement units of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, as well as uniform elements, as reported by Saeima’s press-service.

NEPLP may be allowed to assess beneficial owners of electronic mass media

It is necessary to set specific criteria based on which it will be possible to assess beneficial owners of electronic mass media. This is a matter of state security, said Saeima’s Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee chairman Artuss Kaimiņš, stressing that it is important to think about the ways individuals are able to legalize their content in Latvia’s information space.

On Thursday, 19 December, Harmony faction member in the Saeima Vjačeslavs Dombrovskis asked the parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee to pass the draft on the dismissal of Riga City Council to the Public Administration and Local Government Committee, but his request was declined.
