Producer price level in Latvia’s industry declines 1.1% in December

In December 2019 the level of producer prices in the Latvian industry has reduced by 0.4 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market has dropped by 0.2 %, and prices of exported products by – 0.6 %.

18 589 thousand children born and 12 913 marriages signed in Latvia in 2019

In Latvia, birth number has been declining for four years in a row. 18 589 births were registered in 2019, which is 725 births fewer than in 2018.

CSP: number of residents at risk of poverty declines in Latvia

Inflation in Latvia reportedly 2.3% at the end of 2019

Compared to December 2018, the average level of consumer prices rose by 2.3 % in December 2019. Prices of goods have increased by 2.1 % and prices of services by 2.6 %.

Industrial production output in Latvia decreases 0.2% in 2019

Compared to November 2018, industrial production output fell by 0.2 % in November 2019. That was affected by output drop in manufacturing by 0.8 % and in mining and quarrying by 16.9 %, while in electricity and gas supply there was an increase of 3.9 %.

Construction costs in Latvia up 0.6% in November

Compared to October, the level of construction costs in Latvia rose by 0.6 % in November 2019.

Retail trade turnover in Latvia increases 1.7%

Compared to November 2018, total retail trade turnover rose by 1.7 % in November 2019. Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 1.1 %. Turnover of retail trade in non-food products, except for retail sale of automotive fuel, increased by 2.9 %, turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – reduced by 0.6 %.

October’s industrial production output in Latvia increases 3%

Compared to October 2018, industrial production output increased by 3 % in October 2019, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices.

Latvia’s gross domestic product increases 2.9% in October

Compared to Q3 2018, the gross domestic product, based on seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data, increased by 2.9 % in Q3 2019. In Q3 GDP at current prices was EUR 8.1 billion.

Latvia's unemployment rate constituted 6.0 % in Q3 2019. Compared to the previous quarter, unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage points, while over the year it reduced by 1.0 percentage points.

Employment rate in Latvia reaches 65.6% of the population

917.8 thousand people or 65.6 % of the population of Latvia aged 15–74 were employed in Q3 2019. Over the year, employment rate grew by 0.3 percentage points, and number of employed persons fell by 2.3 thousand. During the period, population declined faster than the number of employed persons.

Tourist upturn in Latvian accommodations reaches 2.27 million in 2019

1.03 million foreign and Latvian visitors stayed at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments Q3 2019, which is 0.5 % more than Q3 2018. Compared to corresponding period of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors increased by 1.5 %.

Value of September’s exported goods in Latvia up 2.5% when compared to 2018

In September 2019 the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 2.44 billion, which at current prices was 1.6 % less than a year ago, of which the exports value of goods was 2.5 % higher, but imports value of goods was 4.6 % lower.

Construction output in Latvia increases 5.9%

Compared to Q3 2018, construction output had increased by 5.9 % in Q3 2019. Construction output rise was observed in construction of buildings as 11.7 %, civil engineering as 2.1 % and specialised construction activities as 2.4 %.

Inflation in Latvia estimated at 2.3% in October

Compared to October 2018, the average level of consumer prices rose by 2.3 % in October 2019. Prices of goods had increased by 1.9 % and prices of services by 3.0 %.
